PH Grade Schooler Tops Global Math Competition

Grade 4 student Francis Deinmel Legaspi gave pride to the Philippines when he bagged the gold medal in the fourth Copernicus Olympiad Mathematics Global Round held in New York City.

Raising the flag as a student at the Special Education Center for the Gifted in Subic, Francis outdid over 100 finalists from 22 countries across the globe in the global round competition.

The Copernicus Olympiad is a globally renowned international competition platform for Grade 3 to Grade 12 students who want to compete in various Science competitions such as Mathematics, Physics, Natural Sciences, and Astronomy.

This year, the Copernicus Olympiad Mathematics Global Round was held at Columbia University from July 9 to 13.

Prior to the Copernicus Olympiad, Francis reigned in multiple international mathematics competitions, such as the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad and the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad.
